Who They Are

The Anxiety and Depression Association of America is a nonprofit focused on anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD and related conditions through education, research and professional resources. Its public online communities provide peer to peer support.

What They Provide

ADAA currently offers multiple free online peer communities, including spaces focused on anxiety and depression, major depressive disorder and PTSD, plus Spanish language support. Members can read, post and connect with peers, and the communities are actively moderated.

Who They Help

The communities support people living with anxiety, depression, PTSD and related concerns, along with appropriate family members or caregivers depending on the community.

Where Services Are Available

The online communities are available nationally and internationally through the internet.

Cost & Payment

ADAA describes its peer support communities as free. Independent therapists found through ADAA's separate provider directory set their own fees.

How to Get Help

Visit ADAA's online support page, choose the community that matches your needs and follow the registration instructions. Once inside, you can read community discussions or participate in peer conversation according to the platform rules.

Hours & Response Expectations

The communities can be accessed 24/7. They are asynchronous peer spaces, so immediate replies are not guaranteed and continuous clinical staffing should not be assumed.

Accessibility

English and Spanish peer support options are documented. The service requires internet access. Additional disability accommodations should be confirmed through the platform.

Documented Accomplishments

ADAA reports that its primary anxiety and depression support community has more than 100,000 members. Membership is a reach measure, not evidence of clinical effectiveness.

Important Limitations

ADAA does not provide direct clinical care through these communities. Peer posts are not medical advice, and the communities should not be used as a substitute for therapy, diagnosis or emergency support.
